Hi, 
I am DJONNY CHEN, an Indonesian-British filmmaker based in the North West, Midlands & London, working throughout the UK, Indonesia and overseas. I have a BA Honours Degree in Film Making at SAE London and a MA degree in Television and Interactive Content at Birmingham City University. I also hold degrees in architecture from Tarumanagara University (Indonesia) and DeMontfort University (UK).
 
I have been making feature films, short films, documentaries, music videos, commercials and experimental films in the UK and Indonesia. My works have been screened at various places, including film festivals, TV stations, art galleries, websites and other screenings. Several music videos that I produced and directed have been aired on TV channels such as MTV, Brit Asia TV, Faith TV, and other music channels. 
 

My works have won several awards including:

• “CHOICES” short film has won Best Short Film Award at the 11th Annual "Artist for a Better World Film Festival" in Hollywood, Los Angeles, USA (as Producer, Director, Cinematographer and Editor)
• “THE KILLING GAME” short film has won Best Thriller Award at "Limelight Film Awards" in London, UK (as Director of Photography)

My previous filming credits include:

• Directing the upcoming feature film "9 HARI 9 MALAM / 9 DAYS 9 NIGHTS" due for release in Indonesia.
• Directing the upcoming documentary film "LIFE AS IT COMES" due for broadcast in Indonesia.
• Directing the University of Tarumanagara (Indonesia) advert film "SWITCH ON" featuring Astrid Tiar, top celebrity and actress in Indonesia.
• Directing the segments “CLOSE ENCOUNTERS” and “NOTHING VENTURES” for the crowdsourced feature film “50 KISSES”.
• Producing and directing the publication/commercials "TRANSFORMATION OF GARUDA INDONESIA" for Indonesia's top airline Garuda Indonesia.
• Producing and directing the short film “CHOICES”, “TUNNEL VISION”, “FOUR’S A CROWD” and “REGRET”.
• Producing and directing the short documentary film “SEEKING CLOSURE” and “MY BEST PAL”.
• Director of Photography for the international UK-Philippines feature film “LEONA CALDERON” featuring BAFTA winner Virginia McKenna and Philippines actress Pilar Pilapil.
• Directing the gangster "comedy" Brit-flick feature film "THUGS, MUGS AND VIOLENCE”.
• Directing the good causes film "MILLENNIUM POINT" broadcasted at National Lottery Xtra TV Channel and ITV website.
• Directing the music video "GIVE ME LOVE" from DJ Paul Morrell featuring Mutya Buena (former member of Sugababes) shown on MTV and other music channels.
• Directing the music video "GHAINT PATOLA" from Offlicence Music shown on BRIT ASIA TV and other Asian TV channels.

At the end of 2013, I established SILENT D PICTURES, an independent Film and Television production company based in MediaCityUK (Manchester, UK) to produce feature films, documentary films, TV shows and other interactive media outputs for both English and Indonesian markets.

I am also a keen photographer with a special interest in portraiture and documentary photography but can easily adapt to other types of photography. I'm interested in meeting and working with interesting and creative models, make up artists, hair stylists, and fashion designers. I hope to bring some collaborations further to my film works whenever possible.
